WHY

DO TEENS

HAVE

ACNE?

A simple and clear explanation

Our skin is covered with pores and hair follicles that contain oil glands.

Dead skin cells and sebum block the pores.

Bacteria, named, Cutibacterium acnes, become trapped there. They feed, reproduce, and cause inflammation.

As a result, our skin appears: blackheads...

...whiteheads...

...papules...

...and pustules

WHY TEENS?

People of all ages can have acne. But because of puberty, teens experience an increase in hormones called androgens.
It causes oil glands to become overactive and produce too much sebum: more sebum, more food for bacteria, more inflammations, and more acne.

WHAT TO DO?

1. Start basic daily routine

2. Always use paper towels to dry your face

3. Change pillowcases every night

4. Keep your hair clean
